The VIWA 2020 invites nominations vide F. No. VIF/CFN/WA/2020 opened on 7 August 2019 from eligible individuals those are in 'Continuous Regular Service in Research or Academic Institution' in the age group of 24 - 65 years and working on the frontiers of Agricultural Sciences (AG), Engineering (EN), Health and Medical Sciences (HM), Humanities and Social Sciences (HS), Management (MG), Science (SC), Veterinary and Animal Sciences (VA).

Award Categories and Criteria

Lifetime Achievement (Code: L)

This award is established in 2016 and has been conferred for a remarkable woman professional who demonstrated a track record of academic/research excellence in the field of science and technology that are reflected by the distinct innovations and initiatives.

  • Eligibility
    A working woman professional who is in 'Regular Service in Academic/Research Institution' can nominate an 'Eligible Individual' (or Self Nominate) for the VIWA 2020. The qualification of the nominee must be recognized and she must be above 55 years of age as on June 30, 2019.

  • Award
    Certificate and Memento

- For each Category/Specialization/Subdivision (Eg. Lifetime Achievement in Engineering - Computer Science), the expert committee will select 2 Nominees. However the Apex Committee reserve the rights to honour less or more than 2 nominees in any category who meet standards set by the expert committee.

Distinguished Woman (Code: D)

This award is established in 2016 and has been conferred for a successful woman professional who made significant contribution in the field of science and technology and has exceptional record of significant contribution to the institute (demonstrated courage, creativity, excellence, originality and endurance).

  • Eligibility
    A working woman professional who is in 'Regular Service in Academic/Research Institution' can nominate an 'Eligible Individual' (or Self Nominate) for the VIWA 2020. The qualification of the nominee must be recognized and she must be above 45 years of age as on June 30, 2019.

  • Award
    Certificate and Memento

- For each Category/Specialization/Subdivision (Eg. Distinguished Woman in Engineering - Computer Science), the expert committee will select 2 Nominees. However the Apex Committee reserve the rights to honour less or more than 2 nominees in any category who meet standards set by the expert committee.

Outstanding Woman (Code: O)

This award is established in 2016 and has been conferred for a dedicated woman professional working in the field of science and technology and has exceptional record of significant contribution to the institute (demonstrated courage, creativity, excellence, originality and endurance).

  • Eligibility
    A working woman professional who is in 'Regular Service in Academic/Research Institution' can nominate an 'Eligible Individual' (or Self Nominate) for the VIWA 2020. The qualification of the nominee must be recognized and she must be above 35 years of age as on June 30, 2019.

    Certificate and Memento

- For each Category/Specialization/Subdivision (Eg. Outstanding Woman in Science - Chemistry), the expert committee will select 2 Nominees. However the Apex Committee reserve the rights to honour less or more than 2 nominees in any category who meet standards set by the expert committee.

Young Woman (Code: Y)

This award is established in 2016 and has been conferred for a passionate and courageous woman professional working in the field of science and technology.

  • Eligibility
    A working woman professional who is in 'Regular Service in Academic/Research Institution' can nominate an 'Eligible Individual' (or Self Nominate) for the VIWA 2020. The qualification of the nominee must be recognized and she must be above 24 years of age as on June 30, 2019.
